So much for New York loves business. The building has never been used for any other purpose than a bar . There is a 200 foot rule door to door from a church since 1934 when the ABC liquor board was founded
there is a grandfather clause .if the property and bar was established prior to December 5 1933 the rule does not apply . There are many newspaper articles written before 1933 regarding the Haas family bar .
The property should be GRANDFATHERED
Moreover, the second bar at the dancing dog is located at 5 Walton street and not in violation of the 200 foot rule the bars are connected to each other and have both been licensed this way for many many years . Other than grandfather's an additional solution exists .The county has approved removing the corner door at 45 church which is within 200 feet of the church. The church has written a letter in favor of the bar being reopened , stating the church and bar have coexisted for decades. therefore the dancing dog move the main entry to next door 5 Walton and would make the legal entrance in compliance of the 200 foot rule .
the sad thing is the cafe corner entrance would be eliminated and the breakfast patrons would have to walk down Walton street to enter . We pray the ABC board grandfather's the building for the good of everybody .Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02742071642452986009noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7741405865396777318.post-22638038691781764662015-08-30T01:21:46.968-04:002015-08-30T01:21:46.968-04:00the property at the dancing dog has been a bar sin...the property at the dancing dog has been a bar since 1897 founded by Dutch Haas
his family owned and for a time rented the bar to other proprietors . They say a bar cannot be within a certain distance from a church. But in this case it would be after the fact.

Not from your area, but always nice to visit A-Bay and the North Country.Danhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16330684270368553192noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7741405865396777318.post-7853572030211636422015-08-29T18:36:17.319-04:002015-08-29T18:36:17.319-04:00Did anybody request ABC to disclose what triggered...Did anybody request ABC to disclose what triggered this action? The Dancing Dog was in business a long time with a lot of happy customers of all ages. Something triggered it and it may not have been a church action of any kind.Mike Joyce @ Hargravehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06995561336394847701noreply@blogger.com
