NIX The Event Banners

This idea was proposed by DPW Supervisor Greg Millett.  Replace the banners that hang over Church St. with a LED scrolling sign.  Upcoming events and the banners that advertise them have become almost impossible to manage.  The summer events are close together and before one event is over it is time to put another banner up to promote the next event.  Trustee Jury was concerned that if an LED Sign was placed to close to the village marquee, that  traffic accident[s] might occur.  My suggestion is to place an LED sign where the rather large Long Term Municipal Parking sign is located at the end of Church St.  This location is prime for viewing by both foot traffic and vehicle traffic that is slowing down at the intersection of Church and James Streets.  The placement would also be at the beginning of the Riverwalk which also leads to the pavilion.  Calender of events would scroll allowing the tourists to see the most immediate event followed by events that are to take place in the next few weeks.
