Alexandria Bay is not unique in regards to it's position regarding maintainance of sidewalks ( snow shoveling, replacement, repair etc)
I do find it peculiar though how municipalities will dictate what happens in between the greenbelt and the street, yet stop at the sidewalk.
The lady who brought this topic up at the VB should follow up with: Okay , now you have told me you don't repair/replace the sidewalks , why is that ?
It's interesting that there is a program where the village will come and " demo" the walk and haul it away , but they won't complete the job. Is the homeowner responsible for the tree roots from the tree in the greenbelt that heaved the sidewalk in the first place ?

If the people who own the houses in front of the delapidated sidewalks don't have the funds to do the job today, do you think they ever will ?? At what point will the village step in ?
