whole lotta cheating going on in the poll, did you know that Brian M recently took a vacation to Michigan or somewhere, no doubt he had everyone he met up there vote for him, now since when does the chief or anybody take a vacation in the middle of the summer

Why would anyone all of a sudden take a bull shit poll on my bull shit blog serious enough to stuff the bull shit ballot box? According to our local politicians bloggers are rabble rousers. Actually all I want is a local government that is transparent....

Anonymous said...

There's no such thing as a transparent govt. Just look at the 10million dollar reward that was just paid out. As picking a police chief, they'll just work the list to get who they want.

jim cummings said...

I am here to tell you that I believe that we on the local level can achieve transparency in our government......That will be my platform when I run for Mayor

anon 9:41am it seems amazing that you don't remember the X-Chief Sacco era with fri-sun off or sat-mon off. He never worked weekends. Your right 9:41 since when does the chief of police or anybody take the busiest time(weekends) off.
NOW we have a chief of police who is required to work nights and weekends. That's the way it should be.

anon 10:17.......ya lost me.....but I won't delete ya

What anonymous is leaving out is that Chief Sacco put in his time (years) and got this village on track before he took weekend time like that off on a regular basis. Basically he earned it, but I guess Brian has earned it too being an acting chief who along with the Mayor has screwed up the PD to the point of it being a complete joke.

Anonymous said...

I don't know who they would get to run for mayor. I think Kay D. She knows how things could run smoothly.

Anonymous said...

Cheif of police should be on at all busiest times in the summer. Or why have one?!!!!

Anonymous said...

I also agree with the Chief on at busiest times, weekends, nights, holidays etc.
Chief Mullaney and the PD have been more visible than I've seen in years. Sacco's visibility was only at the Northstar with Dawn, that's how he must have basically earned it.

Anonymous said...

well if you want to go there how about brian's girlfriend in hammond that he was driving to see on abay pd time.. as for the Northstar every well informed local police officer should spend time in the local dining spot, it is how you stay in the loop

Anonymous said...

That's the biggest bull the taxpayers have heard, every officer should spend taxpayers paid time in the local dining spot to stay in the loop. You got to be kidding
Sorry, Alexandria Bay doesn't think that way.

curmudgeon said...

anon 12:04....could you expand a little on that last remark about driving to Hammond on ABay police time?
Was this in a village vehicle?

Anonymous said...

Yeah , but I think that anon 10:20 insinuates eating at the "Y" vs. sitting in the diner

Anonymous said...

and sitting at the mayors house 10-14 hours a week is what the people of alexandria bay want ?

Anonymous said...

Hammond is nowhere nearly as costly as the village cruiser being parked on a certain street
in Watertown in past years. I can expand also if necessary or u want to go there.

Anonymous said...

Does AlexBay really need a Police Chief?? the State Police is 2 miles away, I mean really, this is a plum just waiting to be picked by a retired cop, To boost his retirement, The County of Jefferson has more cars than Dealmaker, I think we need to look at the needs of the community, and not that we need more cops at the Northstar, hey who knows maybe Hammond has their own PD.

Anonymous said...

Right on 7:26
All small municipalities are downsizing there police forces for numerous reasons including budget constraints to saturization of the local areas by other policing agencies. I wouldn't call it a plum I'd call it the village being a sugar daddy for these retired cops.

Seems to me the main concern should be who is the best man for the job. This is becoming a gossip column. Why not focus on who will do the most for the people of A-bay. You have very competent officers working on the dept, so if the guy takes a weekend off who cares, he has good people working under him that can certainly handle issues as they arise.

I've been watching this pole out of curiosity and as an innocent bystander, and
it looks like who ever runs this blog may be in the Marshall guys pocket because every time Mullaney gets a vote, low and behold some pop up for Marshall, just enough to put him ahead...... a little tampering with the numbers possibly going on??????????????

Anonymous said...

Sounds to me that there is some people in the village scared to death that they may have to live by the same rules and the seasonal guests and visitors. Why else would they be so afraid of Mullaney being chief?????

Anonymous said...

Have seen more village police visible in the past few months than ever before and any that I have ever come in contact with are very curtious, friendly and professional. I'm glad to have them patrolling our streets and being readily available when we need them. Who wants to wait for Jeff Co. sheriff or State Police to get into the area if you need them in a hurry, think about it. As far as the comment about being at the mayor's house, COME ON.....who ever is in charge has to have open communication with your mayor and village board. Seems to me that if that much time is spent with the mayor, there must be good communication going on. Furthermore, if the mayor calls, I would think the chief needs to get his butt over to his office to discuss what he is being summoned for. Isn't the lack of communication between the previous chief and our board and mayor what caused so much trouble and problems in the past? How quickly we forget!!!!

This is getting to be a smear campaign on a national level for a small village in northern New York. What a farce..... make this blog something that A-bay can be proud of and attract people to come to our community, spend their money and a place they want to come back to instead of all this negative publicity. This crap does not help us look good. I would like to be able to proudly say that I am from here.

The blog is appropriately named, abay circus because this certainly seems to be turning into one. Seems like the only comments that get posted are the ones that agree with the blog administrator. Why is that?

Ya know the ammendments, freedom of speech. Why not print them all and let the people's opinions be heard instead of filtering through and only printing the ones that you agree with

I agree on keeping the PD where it is. Have had to call for assistance before when we were being covered by the State Police or Sheriff's and it takes FOREVER for them to come. THey are not assigned right here for us. Let's keep what we have. They are a good bunch of guys and there when you need them. You may have a wake up call if you ever lose this service. I for one don't want to see that happen.

Anonymous said...

Your right, they are there when you need them and do a good job. Have seen fights in bars where they are there in seconds and take total command of the situation before it gets out of hand. Finally seem to have a good bunch working there......... its about time. If the guy in charge is responsible for that, then my hat is off to him and lets keep him. Certainly is long over due and not like that with the previous chief. It's nice to have faith in them again. All this negativity into who is eating where, who is SUPPOSEDLY having affairs is crap. Who needs it. Get back to the issue at hand and clean up the BS, who needs it now? Aren't there more serious things to worry about. Look in your own backyard.

Have been watching this for a couple of days now, and had to finally write and make a comment. Finally some sense coming out the past few comments. I got sick of watching all the crap on TV a while ago when you had it constantly shoved down your throat during the presidential, congressional, etc campaigns. Do we have to continue it on a local basis? Lets have the best guy for the job, do the job. To hell with all this other crap. I don't care where they eat or what they have for skeletons in their closet. We all have them. Lets focus on the job and who will serve us the best. If it is the guy who is doing it now, then why not let him continue doing what he does well.

Anonymous said...

I laugh at the comment about the village being a sugar daddy for the retired cops. Gotta tell ya, I saw one of them in action a couple of weeks ago put a guy down in seconds that was twice his size and half his age. I wouldn't ever want to mess with him and would want him in my corner if I ever needed him. That sucker was stronger than ox and had that fight under control in seconds. Even the gang fighting had an eye opener and seemed to have a little respect for him when they saw him in action.
Keep up the good work....... retired from another job or not, I'm glad your working here now.

Anonymous said...

well i can tell you one thing when chief sacco was there the sheriffs dept did not come in and clean up what the bay pd refused to do or did not want to do.it seems the sheriffs dept is always getting calls about something going on in the bay!!!! hats off to you ret.chief sacco

Anonymous said...

It's funny how little some of the people commenting really understand.. the sheriffs, troopers, park police, and all other agencies know something is seriously wrong with the abay pd. They don't want anything to do with the PD or Mullaney if they can help it. That right there should tell you something.

Anonymous said...

I have several relatives working in various aspects of law enforcement. Let me tell ya, they all bad mouth each other and run the other group down so it is just like everything else, everyone thinks that they are better and what they do is more important than the next guy. Hey they are all cops and all should be working together. If you need to call in reinforcements from another agency, they should be there to help. IT is what our tax dollars are paying for.

Anonymous said...

If the former chief sacco was so great, why was his contract bought out to get rid of him early? I hear he was not a real asset to the uniform

Anonymous said...

If breaking up bar fights are so easy, then why don't the bar owners/workers or their bouncers take care of them instead of calling in the PD? I for one would not want to get in the middle of some of them. You go for it!!!

Anonymous said...

the former cheif ran his dept not the village board as it should be after all terry robb is not a cop or any others on the board. so what would they know about running a police dept. nothing. its not like its the village park or water dept or any other dept.and the abc law states that a bouncer is not to get in the middle of it. thats what the police r for. and mullaney is a very poor excuse for a cop!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

the village also could not control sacco and they did not like that. again after all what do you hire a chief for.as i said again there was not the uproar that there is now you will have to agree on that.and there was alot of other police patrols when sacco was there 4-6 officers on a weekend i see the chief was working alone friday night huh whts up with that!!!

Anonymous said...

you also dont see much of the other patrols as much as you did 1 year ago such as state police ,
park police and sheriffs yes they r there but not as much and im sure they would be there if needed with out a problem
