if the turn around on northern ave ever gets finished
nor do i care if george thinks i am a bigger asshole than my friend john
i could care less of all of downtown drowns in a sea of card board on the busiest day of the season
i really do not care if my punctution or spelling or grammer is ever kerect.
i do not care if the castle cable tv reception has more snow than we saw today
it does not bother me that our entire vb all ran unopposed
i do not care that the new dock is wider than it should be
could care less about the sunshine and open meeting laws
if a politician manages to stay on a board for over 30 years
if the sewer projects makes it or not
if the mayor and his wife have an entire wardrobe with mayor and mrs mayor emblazoned all over
if the vb all gets shirts that say i am with stupid
if all the bars downtown go topless
sign ordinance does not bother me....i hope every square foot of sidewalk is covered with them
that the police budget is growing exponentially
about tazers and tactical weapons or the bikes that will never get used
if the local politicians laugh like little kids because i have given up
nor does it bother me if the dpw buys a whole fleet of trucks and beats the shit out of them
it does bother me that the vb will try to get rid of jimmy the meter man
but i am working on not caring about that also
if i ever step into the big m
that i am a loser and that nobody respects my blog
i really do not care if i never see the words anonymous said ever again
those are just a few things i do not care about.....the list is long....I am gonna take the whole list of things i used to care about and put it in a bucket and label it the fuckit bucket.......end rant.....end blog
Late last summer the Village Board decided to put a turn around at the end of the Northern Ave. It was to help the snow plows and garbage trucks maneuver on the dead end street. At the time I thought this was a good idea. There was some concern about this and several residents of Northern Ave attended a VB meeting. One concern was the wild life that occupied the wooded area at the end of the street. Deer, geese, loons, rabbits, and foxes have been seen at the edge of the woods. Another concern was how will it look? DPW Supt. Millett said that he would keep an eye on the project and make sure that it was finished.
Lets get back to the wild life. Supposedly, somebody called the D.E.C. and blew the whistle on the village. This could have been somebody that lives on the street or it could have been whomever Does it really matter who called the D.E.C.? Not really, but the fingers were pointing and somebody was going to suffer. Just recently the Mayor felt Obligated to call the D.E.C. because someone supposedly dumped an unknown liquid down a village storm drain. That did not seem to bother the Mayor, not one little bit.
Below are pictures that I took today of the turn around at the end of Northern Ave. It is obviously Not finished, but I am sure it will be finished sometime...........It is an eye sore, actually an embarrassment. I have seen the work that our Village DPW does and most of it is top quality. So why does this turn around look jagged, it does not even resemble a cul de sac. The answer is simple.......the Village Board is holding a grudge by leaving this eyesore as is, so the people on that end have to look at it everyday. I know what some of you are thinking.....maybe it is a case of out of site out of mind. This could be, but I doubt it.......click the thumbnail below for a map of why I don't believe it is an over sight.
I was at a place today where I feel very comfortable. In my element so to speak. It is a place where you never know what is going to happen....or when! I love that feeling, it is exhilarating. Drinking a cup of coffee, a friend popped in and dumped a comment and then he was gone as quick as a fart dissipates in the wind. It was his attempt at a kick in the nuts. Let me share it with you....
Jim, why can't your blog be more like Mayor Graham's blog.....can't remember what he said after that, because I tuned him out. But I told old ****** doodle that Jeff Graham is a pro and deals with politics not only on the local but county, state, and federal levels. I am just an amateur local political blogger nothing more. His comment was almost like saying to one of your kids...."why can't you be more like your brother"!
...But the poor cable reception will remain. Looks like we are stuck with Castle Cable TV. The VB made an attempt to get Time Warner into our village, but unfortunately it is a "no go"! After you watch the all to familiar snowy channel from this Poltergeist clip, listen to the short audio clip from last weeks VB meeting.
New York:The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation, in cooperation with the Clayton Local Development Corporation, will receive $1,114,586.............................
There were 8 people present. Only 4 were actually there for the Public Hearing on this years budget. Anyone else who may have been interested were on vacation.....This years budget will see a less than 1% increase over last years budget. Compared to other villages.....we are in good shape as far as what we are paying for taxes. I guess you would call that an attaboy or a compliment to the VB
According to the mayor at last nights VB meeting.....Nothing.....absolutely nothing goes down the Village Storm drains except storm water. That is it....it has to be either rain or melting snow. More later, on last nights meeting and this years budget public hearing. Until then....enjoy this parody about dumping sh#t down storm drains....
I had a conversation with the mayor last week about the Village Dock and why the last section was not completed by Bachs. He told me that section of dock is where all the electrical wires were to be fed for the dock lighting and the connections had to be made to the electrical panel. He also went on to say that the DPW workers did not feel comfortable doing that type of electrical work. The mayor also mentioned that he was frustrated with the dock completion being held up by the electrical work. His solution was to hire an electrical contractor and get it [the dock] done. This sounded like a good plan to me.
Yesterday morning [4/12] I saw the mayor and one of the DPW workers [Mr. Taylor] looking into the electrical panel located behind the old verizon pay phone. I asked the mayor if the electrical work was done? He replied "yes it is". I asked him who did you finally get to do the work. The mayor looked at the Mr. Taylor and asked him, "who did we get to work on this", [pause] then the mayor answered his own question and said it was Tom Gardner. Mr Taylor agreed with the mayor that it was Tom Gardner that did the electrical work. The mayor also mentioned that 3 bids were obtained and he [Tom Gardner] was the lowest. The mayor also commented that they [the DPW workers] would have the decking done that day and planned to finish the staving tomorrow. This also sounded like a good plan to me.
Something bothered me about that conversation.
Later that morning I was at Garlocks and I happened to notice a truck that had a Gardner Contractor logo. I waited in the parking lot. A few minutes later a man got in the truck and I waved him over. I asked are you Tom Gardner and he said yes. I introduced myself and asked him if he did the electrical work at the Village Dock. He looked confused and said NO I did not. Mr Gardner went on to say that he had recently done some electrical work for the village [powerline golf course] but also said that DPW Superintendent Millett asked him what his rates were for electrical work. Gardner said that the going rate was $53.25 per hour but said that he would give the village a break and charge $40 per hour. Mr Gardner stated that was the only conversation that he had about any other electrical work.
What is the reason to lie about who did the electrical work at the dock? I wished I knew!
Later that afternoon I returned to the dock to see what progress was made. I got more than I bargained for when I over heard a conversation between Mr Taylor and another onlooker. Even though it relates to this topic I will wait and talk about that later. Or not at all. Why? Because it was plan old stupid.....
But WAIT!!!!! This gets better!
Even later in the afternoon I ran into Trustee Jarvis. I asked him "who did the electrical work on the dock project"? His reply was brief . Jarvis said Jamie [sp] . It took me all day but I finally got the answer to my question.
Now I have a new question. Mister Mayor, Why LIE?
Note: I know that I have just wasted my time typing all this. The mayor and all those involved will tell you that none of what I have just said is true.....they will say it never happened. They will try to convince you that this is just another reason why you should not read my blog. They will have to live with that!
All I Am Doing Is Telling You The Truth About A Lie!
I grabbed this comment from the Letter from Budman to RH topicSeveral comments trickle in daily...check back for new comments.
When Darryl A. and Addy Russell offered to help they were rudely told to keep their noses out of RH by a board member whom doesn't live here or care about the people in our community! I believe the statement was "GO BACK TO ALBANY AND CLEAN UP YOUR OWN MESS AND KEEP YOUR NOSE OUT OF OUR BUSINESS". Well I am a life long resident, and we don't need some rich S.O.B. coming up here on a fishing trip to close down part of our hospital without even trying to save it!
P.S. To another board member, find another fishing buddy, your grandfather would be ashamed!!!
I found this particular comment very interesting. I know that several weeks ago [3/5/10] Assemblywoman Russell met with the CEO and BOD at the Northstar. I spoke with her briefly after that meeting, she gave me the impression that she was frustrated but would not elaborate. Since then I have heard rumors that are similar to the above comment.
I do most of my grocery shopping at Aldi's. It is convenient for me and cheaper. Yesterday I was on my way home and realized I had forgot to pick up a lemon. I was having a good day until I found myself face to face with my least favorite check out person at our local grocery store. I paid a dollar for the lemon and got back my penny change. The check out person said have a nice day. I know she did not mean it. I also know she could give a hoot whether I live or die. So I tuned her "have a nice day" out. I just muttered "yup" and walked away. She waited till I was just about out the door and then I heard Thanks I Will Too [have a nice day]. I guess she just could not leave it alone. I guess I can not either.
This and the Open Meeting Laws are 2 of my favorite things to Bitch about! Bitch Bitch Bitch....Whine Whine Whine. That is a little cheer I do to get my blogging juices going.... Last Friday in the WDT I spotted an article titled N.Y. Expert Champions Sunshine Laws and the next line reads:
State authority stresses transparency rules to local leaders!
..."Maybe that's why they don't want to disclose. Maybe they don't want to be accountable. Maybe they have no idea what they are agreeing to, which I think is probably the case in so many situations," he said...[WDT]
..."And the right thing isn't necessarily following in others' footsteps", he said... [WDT]
..."Mr. Freeman said many myths about open government laws have contributed to boards' overuse of executive sessions"....[WDT]
Those are my 3 favorite quotes from that article. I just hope that somebody from our local Government[s] went to that seminar. Well.........I can hope can't I?
All around me are familiar faces
Worn out places
Worn out faces
Bright and early for the daily races
Going no where
Going no where
And the tears are filling up their glasses
No expression
No expression
And in my head I want to drown my sorrow
No tomorrow
No tomorrow
And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I'm dying
Are the best I've ever had
And I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
When people run in circles
It's a very, very... mad world... mad world...
Children waiting for the day they feel good
Happy birthday
Happy birthday
Made to feel the way that every child should
Sit and listen
Sit and listen
Went to school and I was very nervous
No one knew me
No one knew me
Hello teacher tell me what's my lesson
Look right through me
Look right through me
And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I'm dying
Are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
When people run in circles
It's a very, very... mad world... mad world...
Mad World
Mad World
I am sure there is still a village ordinance that says recyclables are not to be put out any earlier than 7pm Tuesday for pickup on Wednesday morning. These have been out for several days.
