Digital Pay Stations

It is 2010 and we are well into the digital age. There might be a solution to our docking fees with one of these Pay Stations.  Maybe this is something to consider for our streets........maybe a long term plan?  Just some food for thought

Hey Jim...ever use one??? go to Lake Placid and stand in line behind a tourist from afar and wait in line for 5 minutes (while they figure the system) to spend your time trying to pay, then walk back 2 blocks to put the sticker on your car. And at twice the rate in Alex bay because... those machines cost money... and when people don't get the process they get aTICKET!!!!

Just an off the cuff suggestion...Most of the "tourist from afar" ride the big bus into town....ya know the ones that wear white socks and sandals.... The machines may cost money, but the parking meters create ill-will. No system at the dock does like-wise.

But thanks for your input..

Jim, read the post..people who visit come from many places near and far, most don't have machines, they have parking meters, we all know how to use them. The people who dislike the meters are the local employees who strangle their employers business by parking right out front. Bye the way, the last time I looked we had a system at the dock and it worked just fine until the dock attendants started thinking donations were their tips. Lets just do a better job with the rules in place before we start to re-invent the wheel.

hey jim, my village looked into those machines 5 years ago. They are very expensive and not practical for the bay as you can tell by the accurate posts above. I agree a re-invent does not make sense.

Don't get your panties in a bunch! A friend suggested the digital pay stations and I thought it was something worth tossing out there....as if anything I say or suggest is ever taken seriously! How about if I suggest that in addition to the new police bikes that it might be a good idea that our village police have seadoo's to patrol the river that falls within the village limits.....ie Heart Island and the shores of Abay.....now you might chuckle at that idea......which is not mine.....but it is being discussed......chew on that for awhile.....

do any of you realize it's time to get back to work and make money and be productive, if you don't it will be a cold winter. The village will make the usual blunders and still be here. See you on the dock.
